Blog Resurrection

I’m resurrecting this blog. I have dropped blog.edifyingdeafchristians.org and am returning back to this blog. 2008 has been tough on my time because I am a Deaf pastor, husband, father, full-time teacher at a Deaf school, and a college student (took 3 classes every semester in 2008). I feel that things are more settled down for this year but am willing to be corrected if 2009 is not still settled down for me! Soon I will start posting my sermons from my Deaf church online on this blog and over at my church’s website as well.

God bless,
Pastor Brian

It’s Official!

From now on, I will be posting on blog.edifyingdeafchristians.org. So, please add that web address to your bookmarks/favorite lists because I won’t be posting on this blog anymore.

For now, you won’t be able to see all videos on blog.edifyingdeafchristians.org because I will need to re-do all posts all over again to make changes.

Also, I am developing www.edifyingdeafchristians.org for other areas like resources, e-newsletter, and etc. You can check that website out too. That one will be a very long process for me! For now, the website looks funny. I am working on it and learning at the same time.

So it’s time for me to say good bye to good ol’ colossians110.wordpress.com.

Dr. Bob Visits a Deaf Ministry

Great news!

I was preaching at the Deaf Revival at Bethel Baptist Church Deaf Ministry in Schaumburg, IL last Thursday until last Sunday afternoon.

BBC was hosting a Mid-west Spiritual Leadership Conference last Saturday. I had the opportunity to present a workshop, “What the Deaf wants the Hearing people to know about the Deaf.” Wow, what a mouthful (or rather signful) of words! My good friend, Pastor Stanley, came up with the title. I called the workshop, “Deaf 101.”

Anyway, Dr. Bob Jones III, chancellor/former President of Bob Jones University my alma mater (class of 2002), was a featured speaker of that conference. My father-in-law, Pastor Mark Coleman, the Deaf ministry pastor, invited Dr. Bob to come and give the Deaf a challenge from God’s Word. Dr. Bob complied and came to the Deaf ministry Sunday school. He stated that his heart was touched by the sight of 50 to 60 of the Deaf people in the group. He stated, “in my 68 years of existence, I have never seen a Deaf ministry, and that is to my shame.” Praise the Lord for giving him the opportunity to see a Deaf ministry group for himself. I hope and pray that this will pave the path for Bob Jones University to open wide its doors to the Deaf Christians and provide great interpreters. I also pray that BJU will set up an Interpreter Training Program for students who are interested in becoming ASL interpreters. Anyway, the picture of Dr. Bob’s visit to the Deaf ministry is below:

Deaf Revival at Bethel Baptist Church

God gave me the opportunity to preach at a Deaf revival at Bethel Baptist Church in Schaumburg, Illinois.

I already preached one sermon last night and will be preaching 5 more sermons and a workshop this weekend!

I am preaching mainly from 2 Thessalonians the whole weekend. I will be posting up videos of the sermons on this blog hopefully soon!

Please be praying for God’s power to be revealed to the Deaf group at BBC.

Major Changes to this Blog

I want to let you know in advance that I have found a company to host this blog. I believe moving this blog to a new domain will be benefiting to you and to myself. Also the hosting company gave me 300 GB of space to put stuffs on the blog at a very low monthly cost! I am exciting about this new step. The new web address for this blog will be http://www.edifyingdeafchristians.org. As of today, it has not been set up yet. It will take few days for the hosting company to start hosting this blog. Then it will take several more days for me to adjust to the new hosting company and to learn the tools of the Internet “trade.” I pray that this move will be good for you all and for myself.

Aristotle’s Thinking: Speech + Intelligence = Dire Consequences for the Deaf

Wow! What a long title! I can’t think of a better title than the title I wrote above. I was reading a material for my class at University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee for a Deaf Education class. I found several quotes that Aristotle wrote concerning intelligence and the deaf people.

Transcript of the video clip is coming soon, hopefully!
